JA BizTown combines learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. Grade 5 students learn how to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor.
The BizTown experience teaches students about the roles they play as citizens, the importance of citizen rights and responsibilities in a community, the free enterprise system, money management skills through economic concepts and banking practices, and an understanding of basic business practices and responsibilities. ELGES has consistently been awarded a capstone grant that is used to help fund transportation costs and program fees.
